Amazon.com Joy Ride follows the familiar conventions of road-movie thrillers with enough vitality to make everything old seem new again. A confirmed master of neo-noir suspense, director John Dahl (Red Rock West, The Last Seduction) sets a consistent tone of humor and horror as Lewis (Paul Walker) and his black-sheep brother Fuller (Steve Zahn) drive from Salt Lake City to pick up Lewis's friend Venna (Leelee Sobieski) in Boulder, Colorado. En route, they play a practical joke via CB radio, inviting vengeful terror as an unseen trucker (voiced with exquisite menace by Silence of the Lambs villain Ted Levine) pursues them with relentless, homicidal aggression. Inevitable comparisons to Steven Spielberg's Duel fail to appreciate Dahl's unique talent for energizing B-movie formulas while injecting his own brand of rib-tickling excitement. While Zahn deserves extra credit in his first top-billed role, Joy Ride wins a badge of honor for everyone involved. --Jeff Shannon
Description It's all fun and games whene two brothers (Paul Walker and Steve Zahn) take off cross-country to bring home a pretty college friend (Leelee Sobieski). But the jokes end when a prank backfires and they find themselves stalked by a vengeful trucker who won't give up his relentless chase until somebody pays with their life.

GREAT MOVIE! May 15, 2008 J. Wilson (Ohio) I love this movie it is good, and it keeps u guessing what will happen next
Joy Ride May 4, 2008 J. D. Derksen (Kalamazoo, MI USA) This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, keeps you wondering whats going to happen next. Good enough to watch over and over. So good I think they should make a sequel. The actors were great & should be in the next movie if ever made. Joy Ride had a mixture of Humor, Suspense, Action & Horror. I reccomend this movie to anyone who enjoys good movies.
On The Road Again... April 25, 2008 Bindy Sue Fronkuenschtein (under the rubble) JOY RIDE takes me back to those wonderful horror-on-the-road movies of old, as in classics like DUEL, RACE WITH THE DEVIL, THE (original) HILLS HAVE EYES, THE HITCHER, etc. This time we get the unseen, psychotic trucker (voiced by the immortal Ted Levine) known only by his CB handle: Rusty Nail. Poor old Rusty just can't take a joke. After two traveling brothers (Steve Zahn and Paul Walker) humiliate him, Mr. Nail sets out to exact vengeance in the form of a little "joke" of his own. Let's just say that Rusty's sense of humour is a bit more vicious and visceral than the unwary boys could ever expect! The fun really shifts into high gear once Venna (Leelee Sobieski) finally hops on board. The three kids must find a way to outwit their newfound nemesis before many deaths ensue. JR is a worthy addition to any horror / thriller / suspense dvd shelf. The 29 minute alternate ending is actually decent. It's almost like getting two movies in one! Check it out...
Pink Champagne kills March 31, 2008 Darren K. Brim (Detroit, MI USA)
This is a underrated little gem. Part buddy/road movie part white knuckle thiller. Steve Zahn and Paul Walker are perfect as brothers and prankersters who go way too far. The pacing of the film is great and the way the film looks wonderful. After seeing this film I may never cutoff a truck driver again.
GREAT ROAD THEMED MOVIE! November 23, 2007 Krystal Carr (Racine, Wisconsin USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brilliant Movie! Original plot, great actors. I loved the whole story. There was only one thing that I didn't like, and that was that the writter went emotional, and .... you'll see. I love those type of hitchhiker road rage movies! You'll definantly love it. See all the other great reviews about this movie.
