Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com essential video
Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Meatballs). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins--who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?--but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action. Still a lot of fun, and an obvious model for sci-fi comedies such as Men in Black. --Tom Keogh

Product Description
Ghostbusters PSP UMD Movie MODEL- 11796 VENDOR- UMD MOVIES FEATURES- Ghostbusters PSP Movie Ghosts invade New York and force a trio of spirit exterminators to save the city in one of the biggest comedies of all time. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver head the all-star cast. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson star as a quartet of Manhattan-based "paranormal investigators". When their government grants run out, the former three go into business as The Ghostbusters, later hiring Hudson on. Armed with electronic paraphernalia, the team is spectacularly successful, ridding The Big Apple of dozens of ghoulies, ghosties and long-legged beasties. Tight-lipped bureaucrat William Atherton regards the Ghostbusters as a bunch of charlatans, but is forced to eat his words when New York is besieged by an army of unfriendly spirits, conjured up by a long-dead Babylonian demon and "channelled" through beautiful cellist Sigourney Weaver and nerdish Rick Moranis. The climax is a glorious sendup of every Godzilla movie ever made-and we daresay it cost more than a years worth of Japanese monster flicks combined. Whod ever dream that the chubby, cheery Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man would turn out to be the most malevolent threat ever faced by New York City? When the script for Ghostbusters was forged by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, John Belushi was slated to play the Bill Murray role; Belushis death in 1982 not only necessitated the hiring of Murray, but also an extensive rewrite. The most expensive comedy made up to 1984, Ghostbusters made

4 out of 5 stars Total blast   September 27, 2008
Emily J. Taylor (Utah)
A childhood of my generation would not be complete without the story of "Ghostbusters". This is fun madcap adventures dabbling into the mocked up world of the occult. Here are the classic lines and scenes in all their glory. It's a comedic blast that just has to be kept around.

5 out of 5 stars A true masterpiece!   September 13, 2008
John Lindsey (Socorro, New Mexico USA.)

Peter (Bill Murray), Egon (Harold Ramis) and Ray (Dan Ackroyd) are college drop-outs create a unusual but successful business of paranormalist called "Ghostbusters" who uses proton-blasters and special traps to capture poltergeists and demons. Later a newcomer named Winston (Ernie Hudson) joins the squad, a lovely musician named Dana (Sigourney Weaver) lives in a apartment building that use to be the home of a cult of worshippers of ancient beings and it's haunted. Now a horde of spirits and demons with goblins appear in the city as the powerful Gozer will take over the world, now it's up the Ghostbusters to end it all.

Co-starring Rick Moranis and William Atheron, this movie is a brilliant mix of horror, comedy and fantasy all tied together in one serious crowdpleaser of a movie. This movie has became one of the greatest motion pictures ever and one of the most beloved yet successful movies of all time, it still holds up to many generations among kids to adults as it never grows old and remains fresh. The concept of the film itself is genius and has an H.P. Lovecraft-esque feel to it, the performances are just outstanding and the special effects still hold up in this digital age. I loved this movie since i was 3 back in 1985 when my mom bought me the movie and i became a fan instantly as i watched the TV show, collected the toys, watched the sequel in the theaters in 1989 and it's the coolest movie of that decade. The theme song by Ray Parker Jr. still remains popular today even at halloween parties and the film still delights audiences both old and newcomers alike, it's one of the most original and unique motion picture experiences ever.

This DVD contains great picture and sound with extras like Audio Commentary including an MST3K style video commentary, Trailers to this and other Columbia releases, Deleted scenes, Storyboard comparisions, conceptual art gallery, featurettes and photo gallery.

5 out of 5 stars Back off man, I'm a scientist   August 18, 2008
Patricia P. Surrey (Brooklyn, NY USA)
This film is at least as funny, if not more funny, as when it first aired in 1984. 3 parapsychologists of varied interest and sincerity discover there truly are ghosts. When they are kicked out of the university and forced to work in the private sector they are met with surprising success. It turns out a spirit assault is being leveled against humanity and these brave souls along with some hired help will stand against the forces of a nether world.
Some great lines include:
Back off man, I'm a scientist
Ok. So. She's a dog.
No human would ever stack books like this.
He slimed me.

4 out of 5 stars Like comfort food.   July 14, 2008
ADRIENNE MILLER (TENNESSEE)
Ghostbusters is still a silly, feel-good film I can watch over and over again. I must admit this supernatural movie used to creep me out when I was little but I like the energy the cast brings to the film. Bill Murray sure cracks me up, love his sarcasm and body language. Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver also bring great strength to the film. You've got to see this '80s classic, what are you waiting for... buy it today!

My 5 & 3 year old boys LOVED it, and now want to be Ghostbusters for Halloween. I wasn't sure they would like it as much as I did as a high schooler in the 80's....EXCELLENT!
