Decent tool fo the price May 21, 2008 N. J. Yasillo This is a decent tool and a very low price. It's obviously not a high-precision device, but used carefully can get the job done. I stress "carefully". If the tool is not adjusted to exactly fit your watch's cover plate, you're almost certainly risking serious scratches on the cover.
The unit I received was only "OK" Both of the adjustments worked smoothly, but one of the pin sockets did not contain a detent ball, so that pin was loose and wobbly. One of the other detent balls was stuck and I had to move it with a screwdriver before the pin could be fully inserted. I put a couple of layers of transparent tape on the pin base and that cured the "loose pin" problem.
However, the wood case is very nice. :-)
Don't bother May 17, 2008 apparently too stupid (PA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I guess this is a love it or hate it item. I hated it and I sent it back. It didn't come with any instructions. I guess I got a different tool than the people that said it was easy and wonderful. I'm a college grad and I couldn't figure it out. I emailed the company and they sent me directions but they talked about a vice..what vice? and how it opened up..it did? The pins had no way to stay in place. Too frustrating and it didn't open a thing. You know what did open my watch? A sharp knife! Worked like a charm and it was free!
Real nice for the price. May 11, 2008 JK (Northern Virginia) This tool really fits the bill...especially for the price. As previously mentioned, there isn't directions. But you don't need them. The tool is pretty easy to figure out. Just make sure the bits are pushed all the way in like others have said. I had 3 watches that needed batteries...this has paid for itself already.
Poorly Made May 9, 2008 J. Alicandro 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The product is very poorly made. The bits don't fit very well into the tool and the verticle handle adjustment is very sloppy and loose.
However, the customer service was excellent when I contacted them and an immediate refund was issued.
Works Great April 27, 2008 S. Banks (Boise, ID) Works just as I expected and I save time and money changing my own watch batteries.
